KKR vs RCB: Match Preview:

Kolkata Knight Riders are off to a forgetful start in the IPL as they conceded a 7-run defeat via DLS method in their first game. Chasing 192 runs to win, opener Mandeep Singh was dismissed for just 2 runs while his partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz managed 22 runs off 16 balls. Anukul Roy (3) failed at number 3 while Venkatesh Iyer scored 34 runs off 28 balls at number 4. Captain Nitish Rana scored 24 runs, while Andre Russell remained the top scorer with 35 runs but low strike rates kept KKR away from a winning start.

The bowling attack on the contrary looks firm. Pacer Tim Southee was the top wicket-taker for KKR in the first game with 2 wickets to his name. Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy managed 1 wicket each, while Shardul Thakur remained wicketless.

Royal Challengers Bangalore on the other hand made a winning start to their campaign in IPL 2023 as they thrashed 5-time champions Mumbai Indians in their opening game. Chasing 182 runs to win, openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli etched a magnificent opening wicket partnership of 148 runs in 14.4 overs. Faf scored 73 runs off 43 balls, while Virat remained unbeaten on 82 runs off 49 balls. Maxwell didn't get to bat too long due to this and managed an unbeaten 12 runs in 3 balls he faced.

RCB used 7 bowlers against MI, out of which 6 bowlers returned with at least 1 wicket. Spinner Karn Sharma was the top wicket-taker with 2 wickets to his name, while Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel and Michael Bracewell managed 1 wicket each.
