August 13 (CRICKETNMORE) - Indian batsman KL Rahul, with his latest half-century vs Sri Lanka on the opening day of the third test on Saturday in Pallekele, became only the 6th cricketer and first Indian to score 7 successive Test fifties.

Rahul, who had earlier equalled Rahul Dravid and Gundappa Viswanath’s record by scoring six successive Test half-centuries during the second Test in Colombo, sailed past the two Indian legends with a fifty at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Rahul joins the league of Sir Everton Weekes, Andy Flower, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara and Chris Rogers in scoring seven consecutive half-centuries in Tests.
