Every cricketer has role models and favorite players who they grow up idolizing and trying to play how they play. Indian batting star KL Rahul, too, is one of those players who have grown up with idols.

In a chat during Gaurav Kapoor's show 'Breakfast with champions', KL Rahul revealed that AB De Villiers, who retired from all forms of cricket after IPL 2021, is his favorite player and he still is a fanboy in front of him despite being such a megastar himself.

Rahul joined Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) in IPL 2013 where he shared the dressing room with big names, which was a 'kid in a candy store moment' for him.

"My kid in a candy store moment came in the 2012 or 2012-2013 season. My first year I think and that's when I walked in and Virat (Kohli), Chris Gayle, Zaheer Khan, and AB, and AB was my favorite player."

Rahul further revealed that even in the recent test tours, he watched videos of AB De Villiers batting and scoring hundreds in South Africa and England.

"And he still is one of my favorite players. I always go back and I'm always watching videos of him. So now, just before going to South Africa, I watched AB De Villiers' hundreds in South Africa, before going to England, it was AB De Villiers in England, and like how he bats. He's always been one of my favorite players."

KL said that he still doesn't know how to properly talk to De Villiers and he feels like an idiot trying to make a conversation with him.

"I have a very nice cute relationship with AB. I'm still like very I don't have words, nothing comes out, I'm just like, I try, I look like an idiot trying to make conversation with him after the games in IPL, cause there's so much I want to ask him but I don't know. It's a proper fanboy moment with him."
