KL Rahul Stars As Mumbai Indians Lose Another
KL Rahul's record century helped Lucknow Super Giants defeat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in the 26th match of the IPL 2022 played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Chasing 200, Mumbai once again lost Rohit Sharma early. Ishan Kishan also scored a struggling 13 in 17 balls before chopping the ball into the stumps. However, Dewald Brevis smacked 31 runs in 13 balls to help MI score 57 runs in the powerplay.
After Brevis' powerplay show, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma added 64 runs in 48 balls for the fourth wicket. Till the duo was there, it looked like Mumbai had a chance but both Suryakumar and Tilak got out within the space of seven balls.
Kieron Pollard smacked 25 in 14 balls to give MI an outside chance but he kept running out of partners and Mumbai succumbed to the sixth consecutive loss of the season by 18 runs.
Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers with his three wickets while the rest took a wicket each.
Earlier, captain Rahul smacked his second IPL century as captain that too in his 100th IPL match. Rahul's century took Lucknow to 199/4 in the first inning.
Apart from Rahul, Quinton de Kock made 24 in 13, Manish Pandey scored 38 in 19, while Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda helped Super Giants get a good finish with valuable quick cameos.
