Matthew Wade & Marcus Stoinis Guide Australia To A Thrilling Win Against Pakistan; Will Face New Zealand In The Finals
Matthew Wade & Marcus Stoinis stole a win from under Pakistan's nose, as they chased down 177 with one over remaining to book their spot in the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Australia will now face New Zealand in the final on Sunday in Dubai.
Australia had a bad start as they lost Aaron Finch's wicket in the first over itself. Australia were 96/5 in 12.2 overs but after that, Wade & Stoinis held the crease as they led Kangaroos to the world cup final.
Marcus Stoinis scored 40 off 31 balls with 2 fours & 2 sixes. Matthew Wade smashed 41 runs off 17 balls with 2 fours & 4 sixes. Wade smashed 3 consecutive sixes in the last 3 balls of the 19th over and finished the match. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan was unplayable as he picked up 4 wickets. Shaheen Afridi picked up 1 wicket as well, but Wade and Stonis kept their cool and managed to steal the win in the death overs.
In the first innings, Mohammad Rizwan & Fakhar Zaman powered Pakistan to 176/4 against New Zealand in the 2nd semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021. In-form wicketkeeper opener Mohammad Rizwan scored 67 runs off 52 balls with 3 fours & 4 sixes.
In the later stage, Fakhar Zaman took over as he smashed 54* runs off 31 balls with 3 fours & 4 sixes. For Australia, Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets while Pat Cummins & Adam Zampa picked up 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss & opted to bowl first against Pakistan in the 2nd semi-final of T20 World Cup 2021. This match is being played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
