Mehedi Hasan earns maiden ODI call-up for Bangladesh
Dhaka, March 23 (Cricketnmore) Ahead of the three-match One-day International (ODI) cricket series against Sri Lanka, starting on Saturday, Bangladesh on Thursday bolstered their spin attack with the inclusion of teenaged offie Mehedi Hasan.
The 19-year-old impressed everyone by taking 10 wickets in the Test series against the islanders, has for the first time earned a call up to the limited overs squad, according to a report by espncricinfo.
Mehedi has 27 wickets in as many List-A matches, having last played for Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the Dhaka Premier League last year. Mehedi was initially selected in the Bangladesh U-23 squad for the upcoming ACC Emerging Nations Cup, but has now been replaced by U-19 spinner Naeem Hasan.
Meanwhile, a hamstring injury has forced Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kushal Perara to remain on the sidelines for the opening two games of the series against the Bangladeshis. A replacement will be named either on Thursday night or on Friday.
