Mehidy Picks Up 3 Wickets As Bangladesh Fight Hard Against India To Avoid Series Defeat

IND vs BAN: After an exciting 3rd day of play in the 2nd Test at Dhaka, India are inching towards a 2-0 win clean sweep in the series. Bangladesh's lower-order batting and then the spinners fought hard to make a comeback, but India have stayed ahead. 

Resuming the play on 7/0, Bangladesh were off to a bad start as they lost 4 wickets inside the first session with a score of 71/4 going into Lunch. Batter Litton Das launched a fight in the 2nd session of play and along with Taskin Ahmed etched a partnership of 60 runs for the 8th wicket. 

Litton Das scored 73 runs with 7 fours and was the top scorer for Bangladesh in the 2nd innings. Nurul Hasan contributed with 31 runs off just 29 balls down the order while Taskin Ahmed played a good hand as he remained not out after scoring 31 runs in 46 balls. For India, Axar Patel was the most successful bowler in the 2nd innings as he grabbed 3 wickets while Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin managed two wickets each to their name. 

India came out to bat in their 2nd innings in the 3rd session with a 145-run target in front of them. Bangladesh spinners struck early as KL Rahul (2) was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan for a total of 3 runs on the board. In-form batter Cheteshwar Pujara (6) was dismissed on a team total of 12 runs as Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed the priced wicket.

Axar Patel was sent in at #4 in place of Virat Kohli with 15 overs remaining. Shubam Gill (7) was then dismissed as Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed his 2nd wicket. With the day's play coming to an end, Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck again as he dismissed ace batter Virat Kohli (1). At stumps on Day 3, India are at 45/4, requiring another 100 runs to win the match.  Axar Patel (26*) and Jaydev Unadkat (3*) are at the crease for team India at the end of Day 3's play.
