Mohammad Shahzad Caught Smoking On The Field; Gets 'Demerit Points' As Punishment
Afghanistan's explosive batter Mohammad Shahzad was seen committing a shameful act on the field on February 4th. The Afghan was seen smoking on the field and the act was caught on camera, which has now gone viral on social media and netizens are criticizing the player for the same.
This incident happened at Sher E Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh, in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Shahzad was seen smoking prior to the start of the match between Minister Group Dhaka & Comilla Victorians when other players were waiting for the match to start. Mohammad Shahzad was captured smoking a cigarette on the field and can be clearly seen smoking on the field.
Immediately upon knowing of this act by Shahzad, his team coach Mizanur Rahman and teammate Tami Iqbal escorted him into the dressing room. BCB's chief match referee has criticized the player's actions in harsh words since smoking is prohibited at the stadium according to the rules. He went on to say that if Shahzad was not aware of this rule, match officials should've informed him about the same.

After this incident, Shahzad has been found guilty according to article 2.20 of the BCB's Code-of-Conduct and has been penalized with demerit points. The Afghan player has admitted his mistake and is ready to pay the fines & penalties and has consequently avoided any official hearings on the incident. Regardless, fans have not shied away from criticizing the player with some harsh words.
