Daniel Sams managed pull off a sensational last over to defend nine runs and help Mumbai Indians to beat Gujarat Titans by five runs in the match 51 of the IPL 2022 played at Brabourne Stadium.

Chasing a target of 178, GT were off to a flyer as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 106 runs 12.1 overs for the opening wicket to set up the run chase. Where Saha scored 55 off 40 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes, Gill hit 52 in 36 balls including six fours and two sixes.

Murugan Ashwin's double strike in the 13th over saw both Gill and Saha going back to pavillion. But Gujarat were still in the game with Hardik Pandya at the crease. Sai Sudarshan got hit wicket while Pandya and Rahul Tewatia got run out that kept Mumbai interested.

Despite David Miller at the crease in the last over, Sams kept changing the pace and the South African couldn't connet as Gujarat fell short by five runs.
