Mumbai Indians Thump UP Warriorz By 72 Runs In Eliminator; Set Up WPL 2023 Final Clash Against Delhi Capitals
WPL 2023 MI-w vs UPW-w: Mumbai Indians registered a thumping 72-run win against UP Warriorz in the Eliminator of Women's Premier League 2023. With this win, Mumbai Indians have set up the WPL 2023 final clash against Delhi Capitals, who qualified directly by being at the top of the points table.
Chasing a huge target of 183 runs, UP Warriorz were off to a terrible start as they lost Shweta Sehrawat (1) and Alyssa Healy (11) in 2nd and 3rd over respectively. However, batting at #3, Kiran Navgire was in smashing form as she smacked 43 runs off just 27 balls with 4 fours & 3 sixes.
However, wickets kept falling at the other end as none of the other batters were able to cross the 20-run mark UP were eventually bundled out for 110 runs in 17.4 overs. Issy Wong was the top bowler for the Mumbai Indians as she picked up 4 wickets for just 15 runs in her 4 overs. Saika Ishaque picked up 2 wickets for 24 runs in her 2.4 overs along with a maiden.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews and Jintimani Kalita managed 1 wicket each. In the first innings, Nat Sciver scored a blistering knock of 72* runs off just 38 balls with 9 fours & 2 sixes, taking Mumbai Indians to 182/4 in 20 overs.
Yastika Bhatiaa (21), Hayley Matthews (26) and Amelia Kerr (29) also made sizeable contributions. For UP Warriorz, Sophie Ecclestone picked up 2 wickets while Anjali Sarvani and Parshavi Chopra managed 1 wicket each.
Earlier, UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy won the toss & opted to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator of WPL 2023. This match was being played at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
