Hardik Pandya's sensational fifty followed by a wicket helped Gujarat Titans defeat Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in the 24th match of the IPL 2022 played at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.

Chasing 193, the Royals got off to a mixed start as they hammered 65 runs inside the powerplay but also lost three wickets. Devdutt Padikkal got out on a golden duck and R Ashwin was promoted up the order and scored 8 in 8 balls. It was Jos Buttler that played most of the powerplay and hit 54 in 24 balls with the help of eight and three sixes.

The three wickets - two inside Lockie Ferguson's over - pushed RR on the back foot and the pressure of the scoring rate made them lose wickets at regular intervals. Shimron Hetmyer looked dangerous for a while during his 29 in 17 balls knock but couldn't take the game deep.

For Titans, Lockie Ferguson and debutant Yash Dayal picked up three wickets each while Mohammed Shami and Hardik shared a wicket each to register their fourth win of the season.

Earlier, Pandya smacked 87 runs in 52 balls to power Gujarat to 192/4 in the first inning.

GT didn't start well as they lost three wickets inside the first seven overs. Pandya and Abhinav Manohar then added 86 runs in 55 balls for the fourth wicket. Abhinav scored 43 in 28 balls before getting out but Pandya continued.

David Miller joined his skipper and the duo smacked 53 runs in the last 25 balls to take Gujarat above the 190-run mark. Miller remained unbeaten on 31 in 14 balls.
