Lahore, Sep 16 (IANS) Three years after he was sacked from the post, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reappointed Shahid Afridi as the national team's Twenty20 captain.

Afridi, 34, led Pakistan to the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 in 2010 held in the West Indies.

He was removed from the post in 2011 after a bitter feud with then coach Waqar Younis and the PCB.

He will replace Mohammad Hafeez who resigned in April following the team's early exit from the World T20 in Bangladesh.

"In line with my policy of taking decisions democratically I consulted the cricket committee and my board members before announcing these decisions," PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan was quoted as saying by The Dawn.

"I wish both Afridi and Misbah very good luck in their upcoming assignments," he added.

The PCB chairman had taken all the governing board members into confidence over the decisions with the exception of Najam Sethi who is not in Pakistan, according to The Dawn.
