Players Who Have Taken Orange Cap And Purple Cap Most Number Of Times In IPL
Since the inception of the Indian Premier League(IPL) back in 2008, the best performers of the tournament are awarded orange cap - highest run-scorer and purple cap - highest wicket-taker.
However, there are a few players who are so consistent that they have been awarded more than once in the 13 seasons of IPL.
Here are players who have got the orange cap and purple cap most number of times in the history of IPL(2008-2020):
David Warner (Orange Cap)
The Australian opener has been given the orange cap three times - the most for any player. He was first awarded the cap in IPL 2015 when he scored 562 runs in 14 matches. Warner next got hold of the orange cap in IPL 2017 when he amassed 641 runs. In IPL 2019, the Australian played just 12 matches but still smashed 692 runs in that season.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Dwayne Bravo (Purple Cap)
The two seam bowlers have been awarded the purple cap twice in their IPL careers so far.
The Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar received the cap in the 2016 & 2017 seasons of IPL. Kumar took 23 wickets in 17 matches in IPL 2016 and continued his form in the next season as well where he took 26 scalps in just 14 games.
The West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo got hold of the purple cap in IPL 2013 when he grabbed a total of 32 wickets in 18 matches that season. In IPL 2015, the all-rounder took 26 wickets in 16 matches.
