Women's World Cup 2022: In the ongoing Women's World Cup 2022 league stage match between India and Australia, the Aussies opted to field first after winning the toss. Team India posted a total of 277 runs on the board as three Indian batters scored a half-century each. Amidst this, Pooja Vastrakar smacked the longest six yet of the ongoing tournament.
The Indian team started off jittery and lost both the openers inside the first six overs, at a score of just 28. However, captain Mithali Raj and Yastika Bhatia carried the innings forward steadily and etched a 100-run partnership. Harmanpreet Kaur also smacked a fifty in this crucial match while Pooja Vastrakar smacked the longest six of the tournament in her innings of 34 runs and gained attention.
In the 49th over of the Indian innings, Australian pacer Megan Schutt bowled the 5th delivery on length, and Pooja smacked an 81-metre six without moving in the crease. This six by Pooja is the longest six of the tournament till now and a video of the same was posted by the official ICC account on social media.

Pooja faced 28 balls for her 34 runs as she smacked a four and 2 sixes to give team India a good finish. However, Vastrakar was run out on the last delivery of the innings while trying to steal a single. While writing this piece, Australia requires another 95 runs to win the match in 18 overs with 2 wickets in hand and confirm their spot in the sem-finals.
