Pretoria Capitals will face off against Paarl Royals in the 1st semi-final of SA20 2023.

Pretoria Capitals qualified for the semi-final on the top spot on the points table and defeated Paarl Royals just one day before the semi-final 1. However, Paarl Royals managed to score enough runs to keep their NRR above Durban's Super Giants and qualify for the 4th spot, setting up a clash against Pretoria Capitals for consecutive days. In the reverse fixture, however, Royals defeated Capitals by 6 wickets in the 18th match of SA20 and hence, the semi-final is aptly set up. 

The Capitals are missing their top score Will Jacks, who registered 270 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 201.49. Captain Theunis du Bruyn has scored 218 runs in 10 matches while Phil Salt has contributed 208 runs in 8 matches, striking at 162.50. Kusal Mendis has also been pretty consistent in the 5 games he played and has scored 195 runs at s trike rate of 162.50, averaging 34.66. 

As expected, pacer Anrich Nortje has been leading the Capitals' bowling attack with 16 wickets in 9 matches, at an economy of 6.17. Eathan Bosch has grabbed 12 wickets in 10 matches while James Neesham has also proved himself handy in the death overs, picking up 11 wickets in 10 matches. Spinner Adil Rashid has also gained form, picking up 11 wickets in 8 matches.

Jos Buttler, true to his reputation, has been consistently piling on runs for the Royals and is their leading run-scorer in the tournament. Buttler has scored 378 runs in 10 matches, averaging 42 at a strike rate of 131.70. David Miller has scored 196 runs while Jason Roy has added 171 runs this season. All of them along with Eoin Morgan would have to step up to make it to the finals of SA20. 

In the bowling department, Bjorn Fortuin has been Royals' leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets to his name in 9 innings, at an impressive economy of 6.50. Right-arm medium fast Evan Jones has registered 12 wickets in 8 innings while experienced pacer Lungi Ngidi has managed 11 wickets in 8 innings.
