1st Test (Preview) - England vs West Indies at Edgbaston
August 17 (CRICKETNMORE) - After demolishing South Africa by 3-1, England team is ready for the next test series against West Indies in a three match series. The Windies, on the other hand, lost to Pakistan 2-1 back in April-May.
The two teams will meet on Thursday at Edgbaston for the first ever test to be played under lights in England with pink ball. For the fifth time in the history of cricket, test match will be played with pink ball and both the teams are excited about it.
Joe Root says England won’t be losing any sleep over their historic pink-ball Test . He said,"“We’re all adults and everyone has their own way of preparing for games and this will be no different. It will obviously be slightly different in terms of when you go to sleep but make sure you get yourself ready and turn up ready to be at your best.”
West Indies captain Jason Holder believes an emerging pace attack can trouble an England top order where only Alastair Cook and Root are currently certain of their places.
"I think our bowling has really carried us throughout the last few Test matches," said Holder.
"Shannon Gabriel has had a pretty decent year; I haven't been doing too badly, and we've got young Alzarri Joseph and Miguel Cummins. Kemar Roach is actually showing some very, very good form –- so I'm really confident in our bowling."
