Star young batter Prithvi Shaw has reportedly failed his Yo-Yo test at the National Cricket Academy(NCA) at Bengaluru today ahead of the Indian Premier League(IPL) 2022.

As per reports in PTI, Shaw scored less than 15 in the Yo-Yo test, which is very low according to the standard - 16.5 - set for the Indian players at the NCA.

However, it doesn't mean that Shaw won't be participating in the upcoming IPL where he is supposed to play for the Delhi Capitals. Since the U19 World Cup winning captain isn't a centrally contracted player, the result won't hamper his participation in the cash-rich tournament, which is scheduled to start from 26th March.

"These are just fitness updates. Obviously, it doesn't stop Prithvi from for Delhi Capitals in IPL. It's just a fitness parameter and not the be all and end all," a BCCI source said as quoted by PTI.

"Look, he has played three Ranji Matches back-to-back. Once you play three first-class games on the bounce, the fatigue can also affect your Yo-Yo score," the source added.

Despite stellar numbers in the domestic and IPL, Prithvi Shaw has been repeatedly ignored for selection in the Indian squad. Perhaps, his low fitness level is the reason for him not being considered to play for the national team.

In the last few months, Mayank Agarwal has been preferred over Shaw in the limited overs format. Many from the cricket fraternity were surprised by Shaw's exclusion, now the answer is right in front of them.
