Rashid Khan's all-round performance helped Lahore Qalandars seal a thrilling last-ball win over Islamabad United in the 15th match of the Pakistan Super League(PSL) 2021.

Chasing a target of 144, Lahore started decently as they scored 38 in the powerplay while losing the wicket of Fakhar Zaman.

Islamabad's bowlers kept things tight, helped by the pitch that got slower and slower as the game progressed. Qalandars' middle-order kept the scoreboard ticking but couldn't let loose.

Rashid came into bat with Lahore needing 22 off the final eight deliveries. With Tim David's timely six, the equation went to 16 off the last over with the star Afghani spinner on the strike. Khan smashed three fours on the first three balls and ran the next four runs off the final three deliveries to pull off a heist in the comeback match of the PSL.

Earlier, debutant Aussie James Faulkner took three wickets to wreck the United's batting. However, Rashid Khan stole the show here as he finished with some extraordinary figures of 1/9 in his four overs; an economy of 2.20.

For Islamabad, it was Faheem Ashraf's final push of 27 off 24 that helped United reach a competitive score of 143/9 in the first innings.

Brief Score:

  • Islamabad United: 143/9 (Faheem Ashraf - 27; James Faulkner - 3/32)
  • Lahore Qalandars - 144/5 (Sohail Akhtar - 40; Hasan Ali - 2/27)
