Former Indian skipper and current head of National Cricket Academy(NCA), Rahul Dravid is all set to coach the Indian team for the upcoming six-match series against Sri Lanka in July.

According to a report in ANI, a BCCI official has confirmed the speculation about Dravid leading the team to the island nation.

"The team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it is best that the young team is guided by Dravid as he has already worked will almost all of India 'A' boys. The comfort the youngsters share with him will be an added advantage," the official said as quoted by ANI.

Dravid has been the head of NCA since 2019 and has been widely regarded for his work which has helped the Indian team to strengthen its bench strength. Before NCA, the former Indian batter had worked with under-19 and India 'A' players. In 2014, Rahul Dravid was a part of the Indian squad which toured England as a batting consultant.

The team to tour Sri Lanka in July is expected to be selected at the end of May. Shikhar Dhawan is the likely candidate to captain the team in the absence of Virat Kohli, who will be in the UK to play the World Test Championship(WTC) final in June and then a five-match test series in August against England.
