IND vs NZ 2nd ODI: After persistent rains at Hamilton, the play has been called off in the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand. With this result, India can only hope to tie the 3-match series in the 3rd ODI at Christchurch as New Zealand leads the series 1-0.

The rain made frequent appearances from the start, as the toss was also delayed to rain. The game started and after 4.5 overs, the rain came back and a long frustrating break was taken. When the play resumed the conditions were revised to 29 overs a side match.

However, just 8 overs later, the rain came again and this time it pelted heavily as the play was finally called off. The umpires came out with umbrellas for final inspection and came back to shake hands with both captains in a gloomy scene for all cricket fans.

Earlier, Kane Williamson won the toss & opted to field first against India in the 2nd ODI. While captain Shikhar Dhawan struggled in his 10-ball outing, Shubman Gill looked in good touch as he scored an unbeaten 45 runs off 42 balls with 4 fours & a six.

Suryakumar Yadav on the other, found the 29-over situation to his liking as he smashed 2 fours & 3 sixes with his impressive unconventional batting after the game was reduced. Surya remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 25 balls before rain ended the match for good. For New Zealand, Matt Henry grabbed the only wicket.
