Rajasthan Royals Thump Lucknow Super Giants

An all-round team performance helped Rajasthan Royals convincingly defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 24 runs in match 63 of the IPL 2022 played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. 

Chasing a tricky total of 179, Lucknow were rocked by the new ball as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay with the score reading 33. KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Ayush Badoni were all back in the hut cheaply as Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna breathed fire. 

Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda then added 65 runs in 46 balls for the fourth wicket to rebuild the inning and keep the Super Giants in the chase. Pandya scored 25 in 23 balls before getting out in the 14th over. 

Hooda scored yet another half-century but got out in the 16th over after scoring 59 runs in 39 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Marcus Stoinis kept fighting the lone battle but couldn't take the team home as Lucknow fell short by 24 runs. 

For RR: Boult, Prasidh, and Obed McCoy took two wickets each while Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin picked a wicket each. 

Earlier, a combined batting effort helped Rajasthan Royals reach 178/6 in the first inning. 

Opting to bat first, the Royals lost Jos Buttler early but Yashaswi Jaiswal provided a solid start to the inning as he added 64 runs in 40 balls with Sanju Samson for the second wicket. Samson scored 32 off 24 balls with the help of six fours while Jaiswal made 41 in 29 balls including six fours and a six. 

Devdutt Padikkal also provided fireworks in the middle overs as he smashed 39 runs in 18 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. However, Lucknow pulled things back in the slog overs and confined Rajasthan to 178/6 at the end of the 20 overs. 

For RR, Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets while Avesh Khan, Jason Holder, and Ayush Badoni picked one wicket each.
