Ranji Trophy 2022: 21-Year Old Suved Parkar Smacks Double Ton On First-Class Debut

Karnataka vs Uttar Pradesh: 2001-born Suved Parkar, who was brought in as a replacement for Indian ace test batter Ajinkya Rahane in the Mumbai team, smacked a glorious double ton in the 2nd Quarter Final of the Ranji Trophy 2022. The 21-year old had an impactful debut as he guided Mumbai to a good total in the knockout match. 

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Mumbai lost both openers for just 64 runs. Suved Parkar came on to bat in the 15th over and etched a partnership of 112 runs for the 3rd wicket with Armaan Jaffer (60). 

Sarfaraz Khan, who has been a consistent domestic run bank, scored 153 runs as he etched a partnership of 267 runs for the 4th wicket. While writing this piece, Suved Parkar is unbeaten at 221 runs with 19 fours & 3 sixes while Mumbai are at 590/6 in the 2nd session of Day 2. 

The youngster survived a caught and bowled chance off Swapnil and became only the second Mumbai batter to score a double century on debut after Mumbai coach Amol Mujumdar.

The young batter had three outings in the U19 Asia Cup in 2019 against Bangladesh, Pakistan and Kuwait and could not leave a mark with scores of 4, 3 & 14 runs respectively while opening the innings. However, the youngster has taken full advantage of his first-class debut after coming in for the Mumbai team's ace Indian test batter Ajinkya Rahane. This match is being played at KSCA Cricket (2) Ground, Allur.
