Ranji Trophy: Vohra's double ton puts Punjab on top vs Baroda

New Delhi, Oct 29 (CRICKETNMORE) Punjab's Manan Vohra slammed his first double-century and put on a 314-run stand with Indian discard Yuvraj Singh to end the Third Day of the Ranji Trophy group A cricket match against Baroda on 452/2 at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Saturday.

Manan Vohra (201 not out) and Uday Kaul (42) added 17 runs to stretch their overnight partnership to 105, before Munaf Patel sent back Kaul.

The fall of his wicket brought in Yuvraj, who along with Vohra took his team to within 77 runs of Baroda's first innings total of 529.

In the other match, Hardik Patel's 4 for 71 and Rush Kalaria's 3 for 40 helped Gujarat take the lead and end the day 293 runs ahead of Uttar Pradesh at Palam grounds here.

Uttar Pradesh, who began the day on 147/4, lost their overnight batsmen Eklavya Dwivedi (28) and Mohammad Saif (4) in consecutive overs within the opening hour.

The eighth wicket 62-run partnership between Kuldeep Yadav (25) and Imtiaz Ahmed (25) then lifted them to their eventual total of 241/10, 106 behind Gujarat's first innings score.

In a match between Railways and Bengal, Railways recovered from an early collapse to end the day on 196 for 5 in their chase of 315 against Bengal in Dharamsala.

In a group C match, riding on Stuart Binny's ninth first-class century, Karnataka took a 245-run lead over Assam at the Bandra Kurla Complex ground in Mumbai.

In reply, Assam went to stumps on 48 for 1, skipper Gokul Sharma and Rahul Hazarika at the crease.
