The newly appointed white-ball captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma is fit and ready to lead the Indian side in the upcoming series against West Indies. Three ODIs will be played between these two sides at Ahmedabad followed by three T20Is at Kolkata.

The team selection meeting regarding the same is scheduled to be held this week. Interesting points of discussion would be Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin's future in the 50-over format. Especially after the recent whitewash in the ODIs at the hands of South Africa.

Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury due to which he had to miss the South Africa tour. A senior BCCI source on terms of remaining anonymous has told PTI, "Rohit is fit and available for the series against the West Indies."

"By the time, the West Indies series starts, it will be more than seven and half weeks of rehabilitation and recuperation for Rohit."

"He is already training in Mumbai and is expected to be in Bangalore for the fitness test and get a formal okay from the National Cricket Academy," the source further said.

Hardik Pandya on the other hand has been bowling in the nets, and even though its not clear that he may bowl with 100% fitness, Venkatesh Iyer's dismayed performance as #6, and the Indian team missing Hardik Pandya may pave the way for the all-rounder to make a comeback against West Indies.

"You have to remember after the T20 World Cup, Hardik was dropped and not rested because of his fitness. The selectors wanted to send him a message after his underwhelming show at World T20 but he is too good a player to be kept out for long.

"If not against West Indies, then he will surely be back against Sri Lanka," the source further said.
