Allround Bangalore Prove Too Good Against Delhi
Yet another complete team performance helped Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Delhi Capitals by 16 runs in the 27th match of the IPL 2022 played at Wankhede Stadium.
Chasing 190, Delhi was once again off to a fantastic start as Prithvi Shaw and David Warner added 50 runs in 4.4 overs. Shaw made 16 in 13 balls before getting out in the fifth over. DC ended up with 57 runs inside the powerplay.
Warner and Mitchell Marsh added 44 runs in 41 balls for the second wicket to take things further. Warner was at his vintage best, smashing 66 in 38 balls before Wanindu Hasaranga trapped him in front in the 12th over. Marsh got out two overs later, after a struggling 14 off 24 balls.
Rishabh Pant continued to attack but couldn't find much support from the other end and got out in the 17th over after making 34 in 17 balls. Shardul Thakur's 17 in 9 balls wasn't enough as DC fell short by 16 runs.
Earlier, Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell's timely half-century took Bangalore to 189/5 in the first inning.
RCB had a poor start as they once again lost the top three cheaply and only made 40 runs in the powerplay. It was Maxwell, who took the charge and made 55 in 34 balls but got out in the 12th over with the score reading 92/5.
Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed then added 97 runs in the next 52 balls to completely turn the momentum towards their side. Karthik smacked 66 in 34 balls with the help of five fours and as many sixes. Shahbaz also remained not out at the other end on 32 off 21.
