Rajat Patidar's century was well supported by the bowlers as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs to enter the qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022 where they will be meeting Rajasthan Royals.

Lucknow lost Quinton de Kock and Manan Vohra early but KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda finished the powerplay scoring 62 runs. After the restrictions got over, Rahul dropped anchor and Hooda continued to attack. The duo added 96 runs in 61 balls for the third wicket.

Hooda smacked 45 off 26 balls with the help of four sixes and a four before getting out in the 15th over. Rahul then began to take over the attacking duties and added 36 runs in 17 balls with Marcus Stoinis, who could only score nine runs.

The final three overs were a death overs masterclass from RCB as they got Stoinis, Rahul, and Pandya out to push LSG out of the game. In the last over, Harshal had to defend 25 runs and he did it quite convincingly further progress in the tournament.

Josh Hazlewood picked three wickets including KL Rahul - who scored 79 off 58 - Pandya, and Manan Vohra. Harshal, Mohammad Siraj, and Harshal Patel picked a wicket each.

Earlier, Patidar's maiden IPL century came at a perfect time as he took RCB to 207/4 in the first inning.

After losing du Plessis in the first over, Patidar and Virat Kohli added 66 runs in 46 balls for the second wicket. Patidar was looking in complete control and whosoever came to partner with him, just decided to give strike to him.

In the last 41 balls of the first inning, Dinesh Karthik and Patidar smashed 92 runs to take RCB above the 200-run mark. Patidar remained unbeaten on 112 off 54 balls including 12 fours and seven sixes. Karthik, on the other end, scored 37 not out off 23 balls with the help of five fours and a six.
