Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to clash against Mumbai Indians in the 5th match of the Indian Premier League 2023.

RCB vs MI: Match Preview:

Royal Challengers Bangalore have qualified for the playoffs consecutively in the last three years and are the only team to do so. Captain Faf du Plessis will be leading the batting along with Virat Kohli at the top of the order. Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Mahipal Lomror will strengthen the middle order while Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed will play the finisher role for RCB.

In the absence of Josh Hazlewood, Reece Topley is expected to lead the pace attack with Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel, while David Willey can also come in. Siddhart Kaul and Rajan Kumar are also present among the pacers. Shahbaz Ahmed, Karn Sharma and Himanshu Sharma will comprise the spin department along with Maxwell in the absence of Wanindu Hasaranga in the first few games.

Mumbai Indians on the other hand finished last in the IPL 2022 season and would look to make a strong comeback this season. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will be expected to provide explosive finishing at the top of the order, while the addition of Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green will also add to the firing power. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Tim David further form what looks like a formidable batting unit. The presence of Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs makes this batting unit even more dangerous.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer will be leading the MI pace attack along with new signing Jason Behrendorff. Arshad Khan, Cameron Green, Duan Jansen and Arjun Tendulkar can also form the pace attack. Spin will be led by Hrithik Shokeen and Kumar Kartikeya, while Tim David can also contribute with his off-spin.
