WATCH: Ruturaj Gaikwad Gains Form, Smacks 73 Runs Against Gujarat Titans

GT vs CSK IPL 2022: The orange cap winner of IPL 2021, had been struggling since the start of IPL 2022, and consequently CSK lost their first 4 matches. However, the opener gained back his from against Gujarat Titans as he smacked a glorious half-century while other batters struggled. 

Opening the innings, Gaikwad held one and after two quick wickets of Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali, etched a partnership of 92 runs in 56 balls with Ambati Rayudu 46(31) for the 4th wicket. Gaikwad stayed at the crease till the 17th over before he was caught out by Abhinav Manohar on Yash Dayal's bowling. 

Gaikwad smacked 73 runs in 48 balls, with 5 fours and 5 sixes to gain back his form. On a surface where other batters - Uthappa (3), Moeen (1), Dube (19) struggled, Gaikwad showed his class with his solid half-century, helping CSK to a fightable total. 

The young opener smacked 635 runs in 16 matches in the 2021 season of the IPL with a century and four fifties and was retained for 6 crores INR by the 4-time champions ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.

While talking about the match, Gujarat Titans stand-in captain Rashid Khan won the toss & opted to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in the 29th match of IPL 2022. After a fifty from Gaikwad (73) and Rayudu's 46, Chennai Super Kings managed to post 169/5 in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja finished unbeaten with 22 runs in 12 balls with 2 sixes at the end while Shivam Dube also managed 19 runs in 17 balls before getting run on the last ball of the innings. For GT, Alzarri Joseph picked up 2 wickets while Shami and young pacer Yash Dayal managed 1 wicket each. This match is being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
