Scotland Thrash West Indies By 42 Runs In T20 World Cup 2022 Round 1 Match

T20 World Cup 2022: After a massive upset on day 1, Scotland produced a second upset in T20 World Cup as they thrashed West Indies by 42 runs in the Round 1 match. Goerge Munsey was the star of the match for Scotland with an unbeaten knock of 66 runs, while bowlers produced an impressive performance to halt West Indies to 118/10 in 18.3 overs. 

Chasing 161 runs to win, West Indies lost their opener, Kyle Mayers, after scoring 20 runs. After that, none of the other batters were able to cross the 20-run mark before experienced Jason Holder came to the crease. Scotland bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals as none of the Windies' batters stayed long at the crease. 

Batting at #7, Jason Holder remained the top scorer as he scored 38 runs from 33 balls with 4 fours & a six. For Scotland, Mark Watt was the top wicket-taker with 3 wickets to his name. Brad Wheal and Michael Leask grabbed 2 wickets each while Josh Davey & Safyaan Sharif grabbed 1 wicket each as Scotland defeated 2-time T20 World Champions West Indies.

In the first innings, Scotland opener George Munsey smashed an unbeaten 66 runs off 53 balls with 9 fours as Scotland posted 160/5 in 20 overs. Calum MacLeod and Michael Jones also made important contributions of 23 and 20 runs respectively. For West Indies, Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder grabbed 2 wickets each while Odean Smith managed 1 wicket.

Earlier, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss & opted to field first against Scotland in the Group B match of Round 1 of the T20 World Cup 2022. This match was played at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.
