Shimron Hetmyer Leaves IPL Bio Bubble Due To 'Special Emergency'

Rajasthan Royals and West Indian hard-hitting batter, Shimron Hetmyer, has left the IPL 2022 bio-bubble in the middle of the season due to a 'special emergency back home in Guyana. 

Hetmyer traveled back home after completing the match against Punjab Kings for being with his Nirvani as the couple is expecting a child anytime soon. 

"Shimron Hetmyer has traveled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child. We are helping him in every way we can, and our best wishes are with him and his wife Nirvani," the Rajasthan Royals' official statement said. 

"Babies are born only once, and this will be my first," said an excited Hetmyer in the video posted by RR's Twitter handle. 

Hetmyer is expected to return to India as soon as possible for the remainder of the games.

"My stuff is still left in the room. It's only because of a special emergency that I am leaving. Don't miss me too much, see you soon," Hetmyer said. 

"We look forward to Shimron then returning to Mumbai, and resuming duties at the Royals for the remainder of our matches in IPL 2022," the Royals' statement said. 

Shimron Hetmyer has been a crucial player for RR this year, scoring 291 runs in 11 innings, playing as a finisher.

Rajasthan Royals are currently third in the IPL points table with seven wins in 11 matches. With the kind of form they are in, RR are expected to qualify for the playoffs. The Royals will be up against Delhi Capitals on 11th May.
