AB de Villiers completed 8000 ODI runs and became the fastest batsman to do so.

New Zealand  Innings: Chasing 285 to win, New Zealand were kept in the hunt early on by a fifty from Latham and a brief knock from Williamson after Guptill was removed early by Steyn. After Latham departed, Williamson and Worker were steadying things before Tahir removed the NZ captain to change the complexion of the game. Although Worker and Munro tried hard, wickets kept falling at regular intervals making it too difficult for the visitors.

For Host, Steyn (1/41) and Rabada (2/33) were brilliant with the new-ball while Tahir (2/36)as usual struck the vital blows for his side at timely junctures. Although expensive, Wiese (3/58)  too was among the wickets at important phases. Overall, a fine collective effort on the field from the Proteas and they seal the series 2-1 with the victory.
