South Africa in driver seat in second test against Sri Lanka
Jan. 3 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa allround performance put the team in drivers seat at stumps on Day 2 of the second test at PPC Newlands. The home side started the day on 297/6 after Dean Elgar (129) had helped South Africa get over a tricky first morning after Suranga Lakmal (2-93) and Lahiru Kumara (6-122) had reduced the hosts to 69 for three at lunch on day one. Quinton de Kock (101) registered his third test ton and helped South Africa surpssed 350.
After batsmen show, South Africa pace attack - Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada took four wickets each and bundled out Sri Lanka for 110 in their first innings.
Skipper Faf du Plessis decided against enforcing the follow-on with the Proteas 282 runs ahead. Dean Elgar was unbeaten on 19 and Stephen Cook on 15 with the lead stretched to 317.
