IND vs AUS: India registered a thumping win over Australia in the first Test match in Nagpur, crushing the visitors inside the first three days, by an innings and 132 runs. Ravindra Jadeja, who made his comeback to cricket after 5 months, was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for his 7 wickets and 70 runs in the match.

However, it was a disappointing start for the Australians to the series. The batters just couldn't get going and the top score in their team was 49 runs, made by Marnus Labuschagne in the first innings. Let's take a look at some of the noteworthy stats produced after the first Test of the BGT 2023.

Australia 91/10 in 2nd Innings

Australia, after conceding a lead of 223 runs in the first innings, were bowled out for just 91 runs in their second innings. This is Australia's lowest total in Test matches played in India. Prior to this, Australia's previous lowest total in India was 93/10 in 2004 in Mumbai.

This also became Australia's 2nd lowest total in Tests against India, behind 83 all out in Melbourne in 1981.

India's 5th innings win against Australia

India registered their fifth innings win against the Kangaroos, the first since the 2013 home series Test in Hyderabad.

25th five-wicket haul for Ashwin at home

Ravichandran Ashwin joined Anil Kumble in picking up the most five-wicket hauls in India. Only two other players have more five-wicket hauls at home – Muttiah Muralidaran (45) and Rangan Herath (26).

Australia's highest individual score

Marnus Labuschagne scored 49 runs in the first innings, which was the highest individual score by an Australian batter in the match. This happened for the first time when no Australian batter scored a fifty for Australia in a Test match against India. India managed to restrict Australian batters from the fifty-run mark only for the second time in a completed Test match.
