However, many teams have through efficient strategies and tactics have managed to find a formula to approach, if not succeed in chasing a target.

#5. West Indies (173/8, Thiruvanthapuram 2019)
In the 2nd T20I at Thiruvanthapuram in 2019, India posted 170/7 in 20 overs, with a 30-ball-54 from Shivam Dube and 33 runs from 22 by Rishabh Pant. However, the Windies top order made an easy job out of this target.
Opener Lendl Simmons scored unbeaten 67 runs in 45 balls while his partner Evin Lewis scored 40 runs in 35 balls. Hetmeyer scored 23 runs in 14 balls while Pooran remained 38 not out in 18 balls.
#4. India (182/4, Chennai 2018)
The 3rd T20I match between India and West Indies at Chennai in 2018 saw bowlers' nightmare and batters' paradise. After opting to bat first West Indies scored 181/3 in 20 overs, with Darren Bravo (43*(37)) and Nicholas Pooran (53*(25)) being the notable contributors.
In reply, Shikhar Dhawan smacked 92 runs in 62 balls, while Rishabh Pant played a quick knock of 58 runs in 38 balls to take the team home on the last ball of the match, with 6 wickets in hand.
#3. West Indies (194/1, Kingston 2017)
The only T20I at Kingston in 2017 comes third on this list. After losing the toss and batting first, team India managed to post 190/6 in 20 overs. Captain Virat Kohli opened the innings and scored 39 runs in 22 balls, while Dinesh Karthik, batting at #4, scored a quickfire 48 in 29 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Evin Lewis, the West Indies opener, was in a different league altogether in that match, as he smacked 125 runs unbeaten off 62 balls with 6 fours and 12 sixes. Windies chased down the target in 18.3 overs with 9 wickets in hand.
#2. West Indies (196/3, Mumbai 2016)
In the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2016, these two teams met with full force to clash against each other. West Indies won the toss in the 2nd semi-final at Mumbai, and India posted a total of 192/2 in 20 overs, with a brilliant 47-ball-89 with 11 fours and 1 six. Openers Rohit Sharma (43(31)) and Shikhar Dhawan (40(35)) also contributed.
In reply, however, Windies opener Johnson Charles scored 52 runs in 36 balls after his opening partner Chris Gayle was dismissed in the 2nd over. However, Lendl Simmons (82*(51)) & Andre Russell (43*(20)) hammered the last nail in the coffin, advancing to the finals of the T20 World Cup 2016 and eventually winning it.
#1. India (209/4, Hyderabad 2019)
The highest run chase between India and West Indies happened in the 1st T20I match at Hyderabad in 2019. Virat Kohli after winning the toss asked the tourists to bat first. Even though India managed early wickets Windies batters - Evin Lewis (40(17)), Shimron Hetmeyer (56(41)), Kieron Pollard (37(19)) and Jason Hodler (24(9)) contributed to taking the team total to 207/5 in 20 overs.
The Indian team, however, were determined to start the series with a win. Even though India lost Rohit Sharma in the 4th over, KL Rahul scored 62 runs in 40 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes while captain Virat Kohli scored 94* off 50 balls and the 'chase master' took his team home in 18.4 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

India is set to host West Indies for a 3-match T20I series starting February 16th (Wednesday). All three matches will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Earlier, India clean swept West Indies in the 3-match ODI series 3-0, completing their first-ever whitewash against the Windies in ODIs.
