After taking an exit in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022, both New Zealand and India would look to shake things off with a 3-match T20I series between these two sides. India will tour New Zealand for 3-match T20I series followed by a 3-match T20I series. 

Several regulars like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli have been rested for team India while New Zealand are yet to announce their squad. With a young look, team India would look to work building their team for the T20 World Cup in 2024.

#5. Rohit Sharma/Shikhar Dhawan (80)

In the 1st T20I at Delhi in 2017, Indian openers took the Kiwi bowlers to the cleaners after being put into bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan etched a partnership of 158 runs in 16 overs for the first wicket, laying a solid foundation for a big score. Dhawan scored 80 runs off 52 balls with 10 fours & 2 sixes while Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs in 55 balls with 6 fours & 4 sixes. India posted 202/3 in 20 overs and won the match by 53 runs. 


#4. Tim Seifert (84)

After being put in to bat first in the 1st T20I at Wellington in 2019, New Zealand wreaked havoc on Indian bowlers, posting 219/6 in 20 overs. Tim Seifert emerged as the top scorer, smacking 84 runs off just 43 balls, smashing 7 fours & 6 sixes to maintain a tremendous strike rate of 195.34. New Zealand won the match by 80 runs. 


#3. Brendon McCullum (91)

Former explosive Kiwi batter and captain, Brendon McCullum ranks 3rd on this list with his score of 91 runs against India. In the 2nd T20I at Chennai in 2012, New Zealand lost their openers for just 2 runs in the 2nd over while batting first. Brendon McCullum, batting at #3, smashed 91 runs off 55 balls with 11 fours & 3 sixes, powering New Zealand to 167/5 in 20 overs. The match went on to be a thriller as New Zealand managed to win by 1 run. 


#2. Kane Williamson (95)

Chasing 180 runs to win in the 3rd T20I at Hamilton in 2020, Kane Williamson stepped up after openers added 47 runs for the first wicket inside the powerplay. Williamson played a captain's knock as he smashed 95 runs in 48 balls with 8 fours & 6 sixes while striking at 197.91. The match ended in a tie where team India went on to win the one-over eliminator.

In the 2nd T20I at Rajkot in 2017, New Zealand won the toss & opted to bat first, and went on to score 196/2 in 20 overs. Colin Munro was the powerhouse as he registered the first and only century amongst all batters in New Zealand vs India T20Is. Munro smashed 109 runs in just 58 balls with 7 fours & 7 sixes while remaining not out at the end of 20 overs after opening the innings. New Zealand went on to win the match by 40 runs.
