Sunil Narine reported for suspect action again
New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) Defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders' spinner Sunil Narine has been reported yet again for a suspect bowling action for their April 22 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam.
Narine was reported for suspect illegal action by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Vineet Kulkarni.
"A suspected illegal bowling action report has been filed by the match officials on certain deliveries bowled by Sunil Narine," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur said in a statement Friday.
West Indian Narine though is eligible to continue bowling in the IPL.
"As per the provisions of the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, Narine will still be eligible to bowl in forthcoming IPL matches and may request a biomechanical analysis of the deliveries in question at the ICC and BCCI accredited testing facility, the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai," said Thakur.
Narine, who played a key role in the Knights' twin IPL triumphs in 2012 and 2014, was banned during 2014 Champions League Twenty20 for suspect bowling action. He was subsequently cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the BCCI after undergoing biomechanical tests.
Bowling with a remodelled action, Narine has been far from his lethal best taking just two wickets from six matches so far in the IPL.
