Suryakumar Yadav Becomes Fastest Batter To Reach 1,500 Runs In T20I Cricket After Blistering Ton Against Sri Lanka

The past year belonged to Suryakumar Yadav, who rose quickly to the #1 T20I batter rankings with his stellar performances and an unbelievable strike rate. The 32-year-old notched his 3rd T20I ton as India defeated Sri Lanka in the 3-match T20I series decided by 91 runs to win yet another bilateral series at home. 

While batting first, India lost 2 wickets despite Rahul Tripathi's glitzy cameo in the powerplay. However, vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav, who had failed to leave an impact with the bat in the first two T20Is, stepped up with the bat as he notched his 3rd ton in T20Is, scoring an unbeaten 112 runs in 51 balls with 7 fours & 9 sixes. SKY maintained an impressive strike rate of 219.61 during his impactful knock. 

With this knock, Suryakumar Yadav became the fastest batter to touch the 1,500-run landmark in T20I cricket in terms of balls faced. Suryakumar achieved this feat in 843 balls. While in terms of innings taken to reach 1,500 runs, he's the third fastest to do so. Surya played 43 innings to reach this landmark while Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Aaron Finch and Babar Azam achieved this landmark in 39 innings each.

However, Suryakumar is the only batter to reach this landmark while boasting of a strike rate of more than 150. Yadav's 45-ball ton against Sri Lanka is the 2nd fastest century by an Indian, ranking after Rohit Sharma's 41-ball ton against Sri Lanka as well. Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged the man of the match after India posted 228/5 while batting first and went on to bowl out Sri Lanka for 137 runs in 16.4 overs.
