T20 WC 25th Match: Resilient South Africa Defeat Inconsistent Sri Lanka By 4 Wickets

South Africa was able to hold their nerve and defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the crucial Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2021. For South Africa, captain Temba Bavuma played a slow but useful inning of 46 off 46 with 1 four & 1 six. In the end, David Miller scored 23* off 13 balls with 2 sixes to finish the match & seal the win for South Africa. 

For Sri Lanka, ace all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3 wickets. In the 18th over, Hasaranga took a hattrick, he was close to getting 4 in 4 but he got unlucky and the next ball was pitched outside. Dushmantha Chameera picked up 2 wickets as well. 

In the first innings, In the crucial Super 12 match in the group of death, Sri Lanka was able to post 142/10 in 20 overs against South Africa. For Sri Lanka, opener Pathum Nissanka, scored 72 runs off 58 balls with 6 fours & 3 sixes before getting dismissed in the last over. Only two other Lankan batters were able to cross the double digits in their individual scores. 

For South Africa, Tabraiz Shamsi and Dwaine Pretorius absolutely choked the Sri Lankan batters on a pitch where the ball wasn't coming to the bat that easily. Spinner Shamsi and Medium-Fast pacer Pretorius picked up 3 wickets each at regular intervals to keep Sri Lanka under pressure. Anrich Nortje also picked up 2 wickets. 

Earlier, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss & opted to field first against Sri Lanka in the 25th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. This match is being played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
