T20 WC 36th Match: New Zealand Down Brave Namibians; Defeat Them By 52 Runs

New Zealand bowlers, while defending a score of 163, were able to down Namibia at a score of 111/7 in 20 overs, winning the match by 52 runs. For Namibia, openers - Stephen Baard (21 off 22) and Michael van Lingen (25 off 25 ) provided a slow but decent start as they added 47 runs in 7.2 overs.

But then Kiwi bowlers took 3 wickets in the space of 2 overs and slowed down the Namibian run rate. With more regular wickets, New Zealand was able to choke Namibia and win their 3rd match in the Super 12 stage. 

For New Zealand, pacers Tim Southee & Trent Boult picked up 2 wickets each. First innings' hero James Neesham also picked up a wicket while Ish Sodhi & Michael Santner picked up 1 wicket each. 

In the first innings, Glenn Phillips & Jimmy Neesham powered Kiwis to a score of 163/4 against Namibia in the 36th match of the ICC T20 World Cup. New Zealand started off slow but however, Phillips scored 39 runs off 21 balls with 1 four & 3 sixes while Neesham scored 35 runs off 23 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes to reach an above-par total. 

For Namibia, Scholtz, Wiese & Erasmus all picked up 1 wicket each. They had controlled the NZ batting well till 16th over but in the last 4 overs, Phillips & Neesham took it away. 

Earlier, Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss & opted to bowl first against New Zealand in the 36th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. This match was played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
