T20 World Cup 2021: Indian Batters Demolish Scottish Bowling; Win By 8 Wickets In 6.3 Overs
Indian openers KL Rahul & Rohit Sharma made an absolute joke of the target of 86 as they chased it down within 6.3 overs, defeating Scotland by 8 wickets. With this huge win, India's NRR has overtaken Afghanistan & New Zealand's net run rate and are now placed at 2nd spot, behind Pakistan in the Group 2 of Super 12 of the T20 World Cup.
For India, KL Rahul scored 50 runs off 18 balls with 6 fours & 3 sixes. Rohit Sharma scored 30 runs off 17 balls with 5 fours & 1 six. For Scotland, Bradley Wheal & Mark Watt picked up 1 wicket. However, all the bowlers were equally smashed around the park by the Indian batters.
In the first innings, the Indian bowling attack displayed a fierce performance of bowling as they restricted Scotland to a feeble score of 85/10. For India, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 wickets, giving away just 15 runs in his 4 overs. Mohammad Shami also picked up 3 wickets, with a maiden and gave away just 15 runs in 3 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah picked up 2 wickets with a maiden in his spell, while Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 1 wicket. For Scotland, George Munsey scored 24 runs off 19 balls with 4 fours & 1 six. Michael Leask also scored 21 runs off 12 balls with 2 fours & 1 six.
Earlier, Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss & opted to bowl first against Scotland in the 37th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. This match is being played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.
Now, in order to qualify for the semi-finals, India would be hoping for the Afghan team to defeat New Zealand by a close margin on Sunday. And then, India would have to defeat Namibia in the last match of the Super 12 stage.
