T20 World Cup: Taskin's Four Wicket Haul Led Bangladesh To A 9 Runs Victory Over Netherlands

BAN vs NED: Taskin Ahmed's four-wicket haul helps Bangladesh open its World Cup campaign with an easy win over the Netherlands by 09 runs in a rain-interrupted match here at Hobart.

While defending a modest total of 144, Bangladesh bundled the Dutch side to 135/10 which. Taskin Ahmed was the showdown man for Bangladesh who seized 4 wickets by losing just 25 runs in 4 overs.

Hasan Mahmud also bowled amazingly well and scalped 2/15 with 1 maiden in 4 overs. Shakib was the third bowler to knock 1/32 in his 4-over quota.

On the other hand, the Netherlands came to chase but only Colin Ackermann dropped runs and played hard shots for the team. He batters scorched 62 runs in 48 deliveries with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Apart from him, Paul van Meekeren scored the second-highest for the team in the end with 24 runs in 14 balls with 3 fours and 1 six to his account. 

Overall, batting was the main reason for Netherlands' loss against Bangladesh as only three batters were able to cross the double-digit mark and the rest of them flopped.

Earlier, after winning the toss Scott Edwards came to the field first and the dutch bowlers outclassed the opponent with assaults at regular intervals. 

Netherland bowling led by Paul van Meekeren and Bad De Leede helps the Netherlands push back Bangladesh to 144/8 in the 5th match of the Super 12 stage at Hobart.

Paul van Meekeren grabbed 2/21 and all-rounder de Leede got 2/29 in 3 overs.

Other bowlers who went successful were Klaassen (1/33), Tim Pringle (1/10 in 2 overs), Shariz Ahmad (1/27 in 3 overs), and Logan van Beek (1/12 in 3 overs) clinched a wicket each.

While batting first, Bangladesh got a good start when Soumya Sarkar got 14 off 14 and Najmul Shanto scored 25 runs in 20 balls and partnered 43 runs for the opening wicket.

Bangladesh at one point was struggling to 76-5 due to the loss of some quick wickets but then Afif Hossain's 38 runs in 27 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes helped the side get past to a defendable total.

In the end, Mosaddek Hossain played a mini knock of 20 in 12 balls which also went well for the Bangladesh team.
