Team India Thrash West Indies By 68 Runs In 1st T20I
With an impressive performance in batting followed by an equally good bowling performance, team India were able to beat West Indies by 68 runs in the first T20I, building a 1-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series.
Defending a target of 191, India dealt their first blow in the second over as Arshdeep Singh got rid of Windies' opener Kyle Mayers. West Indies went on to lose two more wickets inside the powerplay as Ravindra Jadeja bowled Jason Holder (0) and Bhuvneshwar bowled opener Shamarh Brooks (20).
Wickets continued to fall regularly for West Indies which ultimately restricted them to 122/8 in 20 overs, losing the match by 68 runs. For team India, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi and Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed 2 wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja managed 1 wicket each.
In the first innings, Courtesy of a valuable fifty by captain Rohit Sharma, India posted 190/6 in 20 overs against West Indies in the first T20I.
Opening the innings, Rohit Sharma scored 64 runs off 44 balls as wickets continued to fall on the other end. Rohit scored 7 boundaries & 2 sixes in his knock on a ground where other Indian batters failed to perform.
However, finisher Dinesh Karthik looked his usual self with the bat as he smacked an unbeaten 41 runs off 19 balls at the end, including 4 fours & 2 sixes.
For West Indies, Alzarri Joseph grabbed 2 wickets while Obed McCoy, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein and Keemo Paul picked up 1 wicket each.

Earlier, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss & opted to field first against India in the first T20I. This match is being played at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.
