Ranchi, March 20 (CRICKETNMORE): Middle-order batsman Shaun Marsh, who helped Australia salvage a draw against India in the third cricket Test here, was happy with the result and said the team performed good despite tough conditions. New Zealand didn't back their pacers, says Dane Piedt

Marsh (53) and Peter Handscomb (72 not out) forged a brilliant 124-run fifth-wicket stand as Australia ended the final day at 204/6 and denied the hosts any chance of gaining a 2-1 lead in the series.

For India, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/54 while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Ishant Sharma took a wicket each.

"It was a challenging day. To get that result is a fantastic effort from the group. I was trying to stick to my plans. Really happy. You are trying not to think about the rough. Just play the ball," Marsh said after the match.

"Obviously, the conditions were tough. Coming with the result we wanted. And now we are looking forward to Dharamsala," he added.

Marsh also revealed the technique while playing the spinners on the fifth day of the match.

"Always liked playing against spin. Always tried to run down the wicket. Nice to bring those skills here against the best team in the world in their conditions. After three Tests to be 1-1 is great, against such a talented team in their own conditions," Marsh said.
