Travis Head Breaks Chris Gayle's World Record As He Slams Fastest Double Hundred
Australian batter Travis Head smashed a double century in Marsh Cup, on Wednesday, to become the third player - first from his country - to reach the milestone twice in List-A cricket after Rohit Sharma and Alistair Brown.
While playing for South Australia against Queensland, Head scored 230 from just 127 balls to register the sixth-highest List-A score. He hit 28 fours and eight sixes during the historic innings.
To reach the milestone, the left-handed batter took just 114 balls, making it the fastest double hundred in List-A cricket, overtaking Chris Gayle - who took 138 balls.
Head's 230* is the second-highest individual score in Australia's Marsh Cup after D'Arcy Short's 257. Travis Head previously smashed a double ton in 2015 against Western Australian.
