Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia helped Gujarat Titans seal a last-ball thriller to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in match 40 of the IPL 2022 played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Chasing a target of 196, Gujarat had a terrific start to the run chase as the two openers - Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha - smacked 59 runs inside the powerplay. The duo added 69 runs in 7.4 overs for the opening wicket before Gill got out after scoring 22.

Hardik Pandya couldn't do much and got out after scoring 10 runs but Saha continued to play aggressively from one end and added 37 runs in 24 balls with David Miller for the third wicket. Saha smashed 68 in 38 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six.

Miller only made 17 while Abhinav Manohar scored a golden duck as Gujarat still looked far from chasing the target, having lost wickets for 140 runs in 16 overs. All the five wickets were picked by SRH's 22-year-old fast bowler as rattled the GT batters with his speed - four of the five batters were bowled while the other couldn't handle the bounce.

With 56 runs needed in the last four overs, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan joined to seal an improbable looking win on the last ball of the inning. 22 runs were needed final over and Marco Jansen was given the responsibility to defend.

Tewatia smoked a six on the first ball then gave a single on the next ball. Rashid smashed a six on the third ball then a dot ball followed. Nine runs were needed on the last two balls and Rashid smacked two sixes to win the game for the Titans.

Rashid remained unbeaten on 31 in just 11 balls, hitting four sixes while Tewatia scored 40 not out in 21 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.

Earlier, SRH batters took the team to a competitive total of 195/6 in the first inning.

Abhishek Sharma continued his good run of form and smashed his second fifty of the IPL 2022. He scored 65 in 42 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. He was helped by Aiden Markram's 56 in 40 balls including two fours and three sixes. Markram and Abhishek had added 96 runs in 61 balls for the third wicket.

Shashank Singh gave a perfect finishing to the team as he smacked 25 runs in just six balls with the help of three sixes and a four.
