The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) will kick off on February 23 (Friday) with a game between the Mumbai Indians Women and the Delhi Capitals Women. A total of 22 matches will be played between the five teams. This format will take place in a round-robin and playoff format, where the top three teams will benefit. Every team will play eight matches during the group stage.

The team that finishes at the top will qualify directly for the final, while the next two teams will play Eliminator, and the winner will qualify for the final. The final game of the tournament will be played on March 17. The UP Warriorz are one of the five teams that will compete in the competition. They finished third last season and will look to do well this time around.

WPL 2024: UP Warriorz Preview

Owned by Capri Global, the UP Warriorz will see Australian captain Alyssa Healy lead the side in the WPL 2024. Jon Lewis is the coach, who is also coaching England's women's cricket team at the moment. The franchise signed five players at the WPL 2024 auction, including England's star keeper Danni Wyatt (INR 30 lakh), who was a steal pick at the auction.

Hard-hitting, uncapped Indian batter Vrinda Dinesh caught the attention when the UP franchise spent INR 1.3 crore on her. Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Bell, Tahlia McGrath, and Grace Harris are proven match-winners at the international level, and they will all be part of this team in the coming season. The franchise has done a good job to settle a mix of young and experienced players.

Shweta Sehrawat, Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Anjali Sarvani are some good Indian players for the team. This will help them choose among a number of options while selecting a playing XI. The UP Warriorz will face RCB in their opening match on February 24 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
