WACA To Host Pink Ball Test Between India Women And Australia

Indian women's cricket team will be playing a pink ball test match against Australia later this year at Perth's WACA, confirmed CA on Thursday. The four-day test match will begin on September 30. 

It will be the first time that Indian women will be playing a day/night test match and that too at Australia's fastest pitch. The ground hasn't hosted a day/night test before. The Australian women too will be playing a test match at WACA for the first time since 2014. 

Indian women cricketers will be playing two test matches this year; one each against England and Australia. India last played a test match against Australia in 2006. 

Interestingly, in 2006 as well, Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami were part of the test team and the two are very likely to be part of this test match against Australia as well. 

India and Australia have played a total of nine test matches against each other in which the five have resulted in a draw while Aussie women winning four games. 

The last time India-Australia played against each other was in the 2020 T20 World Cup final which saw a record-breaking turnout of 86174 fans watching from the stands of Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG). 

The two teams will also be competing against each other in three T20Is and three ODIs in the series.

  • Sep 22: Second ODI, Junction Oval
  • Sep 24: Third ODI, Junction Oval
  • Sep 30 – Oct 3: Test match, WACA Ground (D/N)
  • Oct 7: First T20, North Sydney Oval
  • Oct 9: Second T20, North Sydney Oval
  • Oct 11: Third T20, North Sydney Oval
