Wade, Wasim Fifties In Vain As Peshawar Zalmi Beat Karachi Kings By 24 Runs In PSL 8

KAR vs PES: Peshawar Zalmi completed a double over Karachi Kings in PSL 8 as they beat them by 24 runs in the 17th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. Matthew Wade and Imad Wasim showed a valiant effort with the bat but couldn't take their team across the winning line. 

Chasing 198 runs to win, Karachi Kings got off to a good start as openers Matthew Wade and Adam Rossington added 40 runs for the first wicket in 4.3 overs. Rossington was dismissed for 15 runs of 8 balls by Azmatullah while promising youngster Tayyab Tahir (6), Irfan Khan (4) and experience Shoaib Malik (1) were dismissed in quick succession.

However, Matthew Wade held the crease responsibly till the 12th over, scoring 53 runs off 41 balls with 9 fours. Batting at #6, captain Imad Wasim arrived at the crease in the 11th over and held the crease, making sure of not losing his wicket. After the fall of the 8th wicket, he broke the shambles as he smacked an unbeaten 57 runs off 30 balls, top scoring for his team.

For Karachi Kings, Aamer Jamal and Azmatullah Omarzai picked up 3 wickets each while Mujeeb ur Rahman managed 2 wickets. In the first innings, after Mohammed Amir rigged the opposition down inside the powerplay, the Peshawar Zalmi middle order stepped up as they posted 197/5 against Karachi Kings in the 17th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. As many as three batters scored fifties for Peshawar Zalmi.

Mohammad Harris, who has been in good form, was caught plumb LBW against Mohammad Amir on the first delivery of the innings for a duck. Captain Babar Azam was also dismissed in the same over, also for a duck. 

On the first delivery of the 3rd over, Mohammad Amir dismissed Saim Ayub (1) to reduce Peshawar to 2/3 in 2.2 overs. From thereon, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and 19-year-old debutant Haseebullah Khan got together to add 82 runs in 46 balls for the 4th wicket. Haseebullah was dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi after completing 50 runs off just 29 balls. 

Kohler-Cadmore was then joined by Rovman Powell as the duo etched a partnership of 85 runs in 51 balls for the 5th wicket. Powell thrashed 64 runs in 34 balls with 6 fours & 4 sixes. Kohler-Cadmore on the other hand remained unbeaten on 56 runs in 45 balls. For Karachi Kings, Mohammad Amir picked up 4 wickets while Tabraiz Shamsi managed 1 wicket. 

Earlier, Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim won the toss & opted to bowl first against Peshawar Zalmi in the 17th match of the Pakistan Super League 2023. This match is being played at Pindi Club Ground, Rawalpindi.
