WATCH: Allrounder David Wiese Wrecks Islamabad's Dream Of PSL Final
In every T20 game, there is some player or the other who ups the gameplay level to steal the game away from the opposition, and in the Pakistan Super League(PSL) Eliminator, it was Lahore Qalandars' David Wiese.
The Namibian allrounder had a complete game and helped Lahore wreck Islamabad United's chance of getting into the PSL Final.
Wiese came into bat in the 19th over of the first innings Lahore was struggling to set a competitive target with the score reading 135/6.
In the final over, Wiese was on the strike from the first ball batting against Waqas Maqsood, who had a fairly decent game until then. The Namibian smacked three sixes, two fours, and ran two twos to get 27 runs in the last over to guide Qalandars to a total of 168/7. Wiese remained unbeaten on 28 in just eight balls.
His last over blitz with the bat turned out to be very crucial while defending the total as the PSL eliminator turned out to be a very intense run-chase as Islamabad needed just eight runs in the 20th over but they were eight wickets down. David Wiese was handed the responsibility to defend.
The first two balls were dots as Mohammad Wasim Jr turned down singles to Asif Ali. On the third ball, in search of the second run Wasim Jr got run out. On the fourth ball, with seven needed, Waqas Maqsood slogged the ball in the air but couldn't clear the rope and got caught.
