WATCH: Azhar Ali-Cameron Green Recreate Famous Tendulkar-McGrath LBW Dismissal
In the India vs Australia Adelaide Test of 1999, Glenn Mcgrath got Sachin Tendulkar out LBW but it was more complicated than that. Tendulkar had ducked since McGrath had bowled a short pitch delivery but the ball didn't bounce, hit Sachin's shoulders and umpire Daryl Harper adjudged him out
23 years later, in Australia vs Pakistan 2nd test match at Karachi, a similar thing happened. Cameron Green was bowling to a well-set Azhar Ali, who was doing a blockathon to save the test match.
Ali had already played 54 balls for his six runs and wasn't looking even a little bit in discomfort facing the Australian attack. It took him a rare bowl from Green to dismiss Azhar.
In the 23rd over, Green bowled a short of length delivery that kept low but Ali ducked by judging the length. The ball struck on his upper thigh and the umpire didn't hesitate to raise his finger.
Ali was surprised and asked if a review should be taken but his batting partner Abdullah Shafique told him not to. It was an unfortunate dismissal for Ali and it got worse when the replays showed that the ball had touched his gloves before hitting the thighs.
